Adding Fields to a PLD from a Query
The Print Layout Designer (PLD) apparently does not allow you to refresh the query (i.e., add columns to the query and thus add fields to the PLD). The only way we have found to overcome this is to copy all of the original layout and paste it into another layout (yes...you can do that!). Here are the steps:
- Change your original query and save it.
- Save the old report layout as a new name.
- Go to Edit and choose Select All.
- Go to Edit and choose Copy.
- Exit the old version of the report.
- You should now have two versions of the report: one under the original name and another under the save name.
- Open the original and delete the template (not the saved version). We are going to let SBO regenerate the report layout again.
- Recreate a report layout from a query.
- Open the new layout. Note that all of the fields are jammed to together on the layout (so far so good).
- Select everything but the new fields you have added to the query.
- Paste the old layout on top of the new layout.
- The system will ask if you would like to use new field names or the originals. Select Use the Originals option.
